Karma Albrechtsen Obituary

Karma Jean Hooper Albrechtsen, 89, of North Logan, Utah faithfully completed her mortal journey and was reunited with her eternal companion, Rulon S. Albrechtsen, on February 22, 2025.

Karma was born May 7, 1935 in Ogden, Utah to Richard Douglas and Effie Arthur Jones Hooper. She loved growing up in Hooper and attended Weber High School and Weber State College before graduating from Utah State University with a bachelor's degree in Home Economics Education. She taught Home Economics to junior high students in Ogden before marrying her eternal sweetheart, Rulon, in the Salt Lake Temple on June 4, 1959.

Rulon and Karma are the loving parents of 6 children, 3 sons and 3 daughters, who are the center of their world. One of Karma's favorite songs has always been "Love at Home." Having grown up as an only child, she often reminded her children and grandchildren how lucky they were to have each other.

Karma was a lifelong learner and enjoyed reading books, listening to podcasts, and learning new skills. She always wanted to learn to play the accordion, so she secretly started taking lessons in her 60s and surprised her family at a Christmas party by playing them a song. Even as her eyesight worsened in recent years, she could often be found reading with a magnifying glass, asking Alexa questions, and looking up articles on her iPad.

Karma was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints throughout her life and joyfully served in many callings. Some of her favorites included District Relief Society President, Stake Relief Society President, Sunday school teacher, Logan Temple ordinance worker, and serving with Rulon in the Logan Valley Nursing Center Branch. She and Rulon enjoyed serving a full-time mission together in the Asia Area. They served in Hong Kong and loved the people and culture immensely, especially the many sisters from the Philippines.

Her most cherished calling was being a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and matriarch of her family. She expressed her love to her family sincerely and often. Karma had a gift for making each family member feel loved, encouraged, and valued.

Karma has always had a strong testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ and has based her life on the sure knowledge that families are eternal. She was especially grateful for the power of the priesthood and believed in and relied on the blessings that she received throughout her life. She departed her mortal journey firm in her faith in Jesus Christ and His gospel. She knew that the great plan of happiness is real and that she would be reunited with Rulon and other family members and friends.

Karma is preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Effie Hooper, and her husband Rulon S. Albrechtsen. She is survived by her children Doug (Connie) Albrechtsen, Annette (Brett) King, Julie (Gerald) Osborne, Janet (Kurt) Foster, Brad (Kristy) Albrechtsen, and Ken (Diane) Albrechtsen, 27 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren who all love her very much.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 1st at 12pm in the North Logan 4th Ward Chapel (1105 East 2100 North, North Logan, Utah). A viewing will be held Friday, February 28th from 6-8pm and Saturday March 1st from 10-11:30am at the same location. Karma will be laid to rest in the North Logan Memorial Park Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.allenmortuaries.net.

The Albrechtsen family expresses their sincere thanks for your love, kindness, and support. In lieu of flowers the family suggests a contribution to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Missionary Fund.

We want to express our love to Karma's family. My mother remembers her Aunt Karma from when she lived in Hooper. It seems her love of music was shared with her cousin Dean who played the harmonica for his family. They are sure to be having a joyous reunion. Karen Flinders Batchelor and family.
