Kassiani "Kathy" Glenn, 83, of Tarpon Springs passed away in Pinellas County, FL on March 30, 2025. She was born in Athens, Greece, and came to the United States in her teens. Her cities of residence included Gastonia, NC, Lexington, KY, Richmond, VA, and Tarpon Springs, FL.
A survivor of the Nazi occupation and the subsequent Greek Civil War, Kassiani was driven by the desire to improve the community and lives around her. She became a social worker who worked with foster kids, but she also worked with several community groups.
During her life, she served with Gaston Community Action, The Kentucky Organization (TKO), and as a missionary to the Philippines for the United Church of Christ. In Tarpon Springs, she volunteered for the Philoptochos Society and promoted affordable housing in Pinellas County.
Kassiani was predeceased by Frank C. Glenn, her husband. She is survived by her children, Sarah (Gwen) and Joel (Kathryn) Glenn, granddaughter Christy (James) MacMillen, and grandsons Shawn Harvey and Hunter (Hannah) MacMillen. She is also survived by her brothers, Michael and Theodore (Poly) Papadeas, their children, her brother-in-law, Ted (Freda) Glenn of Weaverville, NC, and a host of Filipino godchildren: Phyns Fabrigar Patalinghug, Regal Oliva, and the Andog family: Samuel, Marilou, Shian Mae, Kassiani, Franklenn, and Josémarie.
The service will be held at Parklawn Memorial Cemetery in Dunedin on Saturday, April 5th, at 2 PM. It is graveside and will be presided over by Pastor Mike MacMillan of Faith UCC.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Bread for the World or your local food bank would be appreciated.
