Katharine Von "Kate" Brook

Kate Von Brook (Sharp) 43, passed away to a peaceful place on May 18, 2024, at her home in Aberdeen, SD. She was born in Pittsfield, MA, grew up in Stephentown, NY and graduated from New Lebanon Jr/Sr High School. She received her BA from Northern State University and was formerly employed as business manager with Dakota Broadcasting and Hub City Radio.
Kate enjoyed many genres of music and would often create silly lyrics to familiar tunes. She performed in summer stock productions at The Theatre Barn and The MaHaydn Theatre in upstate NY and danced with the Berkshire Ballet. She also enjoyed writing, drawing and creating scavenger hunts for her kids.
Kate is survived by her children, the "stars" in her life, Alex Tarver and Scarlett Von Brook, of Aberdeen who describe her as caring, passionate, kind, gorgeous, hard-working and generous. She is also survived by her Dad, Gary Sharp (Margo) of Wilmington, NC; her Mom, Judi Sharp of Dalton, MA; her brother, Matt of University Place, WA and two nieces, Erin and Morgan Sharp. She also leaves behind her former husband, Travis Tarver (Felicia), husband Matthew of Aberdeen and many Aunts, Uncles and extended family.
She will be remembered by family and friends for her joy, creativity, fabulous smile and her deep well of empathy.
Friends and family are invited to visit to share memories at Schriver's Funeral Home, Aberdeen, on May 31, 2024, between 4 and 6 PM. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Kate's name at Healthcare Plus Federal Credit Union, Aberdeen, SD to benefit her children.
