Katherine "Katie" Bussey Hewett, 85, of Fort White, Florida passed away on Thursday, January 25, 2024. Katie was born in Fort White, Florida on July 6, 1938 to Albert and Hilda Bussey.
Katie was married to Raymond Hayward Hewett for 35 years. Katie graduated from Fort White school where she received a high school diploma and was the valedictorian of her class. Katie worked for Southern Bell and later was a bank teller for Bank of America. She enjoyed playing the piano, cooking, sewing, baking, and Bible studies. She was also actively involved in March of Dimes and Florida Methodist Children's Home.
She is survived by her son, Benjamin Hewet (Carol) of Fort White, Florida; grandsons, Korey Dodson (Ashley) of Gibson, Georgia and Kyle Hewett of Jacksonville, Florida; granddaughter, Suzanne Hewett of Fort White; and great-granddaughter, Aela Dodson of Gibson, Georgia.
Katie is preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Hilda Bussey; husband, Raymond Hayward Hewett; sisters, Louise Moseley, Pauline Peler, Mamie Thurna, and Virginia Hewett; brothers, Henry Bussey and David Bussey.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Tustenuggee Methodist Church, 1715 McClinton Road, Fort White, Florida 32038 or the Fort White Church of God, 339 SW Bryant Ave., Fort White, Florida 32038.
Th funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at the Tustenuggee Methodist Church. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 29, 2024 from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Evans Carter Funeral Home, 18724 High Springs Main Street, High Springs, Florida 32643. Burial will follow the funeral service at the Tustenuggee Methodist Cemetery.
