Katherine "Kathy" Ann Liken, age 72, of West Olive, went to Heaven peacefully at home on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, with her family by her side. She was born on September 12, 1953, in Oakland, California, to the late James and Charlotte (Bowell) Brandner.
Kathy grew up in Hammond, Indiana, graduated from Morton High School, and later moved to San Diego, California, where she met the love of her life, Peter Liken. They then moved to New England for a short time and were married on May 23, 1980, in Bay City, Michigan, before moving to Grand Haven.
Kathy worked for a medical imaging company in Grand Haven before taking a break to raise her two children. She then took a job at Hart & Cooley in Holland before retiring. Kathy was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church for many years.
She enjoyed gardening and being a part of the Grand Haven Garden Club, traveling, camping, and reading. She loved going to the family cabin up north on the Au Sable River and enjoyed spending time in Florida and the Caribbean, where she loved going to the beach and collecting shells. Kathy was very talented at making custom jewelry; she especially loved creating the "Razzle Dazzle" jewelry business, which she marketed and sold at local art shows.
Kathy will be lovingly remembered and missed by her loving husband of 45 years, Peter; her daughter, Kristen Rouwhorst; son, Ryan (Renee) Liken; three grandchildren: Braeden, Makenzi, and Chase; five brothers: Chuck (Mary) Brandner, Ron (Kellie) Brandner, Greg (Nancy) Brandner, Doug Brandner, and Mark (Stefanie) Brandner; five siblings-in-law: Keith (Patty) Liken, Warren (Vickie) Liken, Alison (Tim) DeWyse, Caroline (Dave) Kimble, and Rhonda (Mike) Verduyn; many nieces and nephews; and her little puppy, Lily.
The Memorial Service for Kathy will take place at 12 noon on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at St. John's Lutheran Church (527 Taylor Ave., Grand Haven, Michigan) with Pastor Aaron Vergin officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service, at 11 a.m., at the church. A Burial Ceremony will be held in the spring at Grand Haven Township Lakeshore Cemetery, details to be announced.
