Katherine Silka Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Sellars Funeral Home at Mt. Juliet on Apr. 16, 2024.
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Katherine Ruth Silka. Katherine was a dearly loved member of the community, and her absence will be deeply felt by many. Her family and friends are heartbroken by her loss, and we offer our deepest condolences to all who knew her.
Kathy's passing was preceded by the loss of several loved ones, including her parents and their respective spouses. Her father, Charles, and stepmother, Kitty Hill; her mother, Marion, and stepfather, Richard Pratt; as well as her two brothers, Michael and Steve Hill, and her beloved pet Maggie have all passed away before her. She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Blain; her sister, Lori (Mark) Corry; her children, Kari (Eric) Spalding, Nickolas (Andaleah) Silka; her grandchildren, Avery, Leah, Allie, Haylie, Alexa and Tehya. She is also survived by several additional loved ones, including her best friends, Chuck and Robin Moon, and Cindy and Bill Frank. Last, but not least, she is survived by her fur babies Bentley, and Hemingway.
Kathy was born on April 27, 1955, in Anchorage, Alaska. She grew up to be a successful business owner and a skilled cosmetologist. Her passion for beauty and her entrepreneurial spirit led her to open her own hair salon, which became a thriving business. However, Kathy's interests extended far beyond her professional pursuits. She had a wide variety of hobbies and passions that kept her engaged and fulfilled.
For example, she was an avid reader! She also had a green thumb and enjoyed gardening, nurturing plants and flowers in her own backyard. Kathy was also a big fan of thrift shopping, always on the lookout for hidden treasures and unique finds. She loved to bake and experiment with new recipes in the kitchen. When she wasn't in the kitchen, she could often be found in her woodshop, working on projects and honing her woodworking skills. Crafting was another passion of Kathy's; she was particularly fond of making diamond art. She found it a relaxing and meditative activity and loved how the finished products sparkled and shone in the light. Overall, Kathy was a multi-talented and creative individual who pursued her interests with passion and dedication.
Kathy's dedication to her family was unmatched. She loved each and every one of them deeply and would do anything to make them happy. Her family meant the world to her, and she showed it in countless ways. One of the ways Kathy expressed her love for her family was through gift-giving, especially during Christmas time. Above all, Kathy cherished the time she spent with her family. Whether it was a big family gathering or just a quiet evening at home, she always made sure to create special memories with her loved ones. Her family was the center of her world, and nothing brought her more happiness than being with them.
It is difficult to express how much Kathy will be missed. Her warmth, kindness, and generosity inspired all who knew her. Her family and friends will always remember her with love and admiration, and she will forever hold a special place in our hearts.
Services for Kathy will be held at Sellars Funeral Home in Mount Juliet on Wednesday April 17, with a visitation from 4pm - 8pm with visitation held on Thursday April 18th from 1pm to 2pm with a service to follow.
