Katherine Thomas Obituary
Kitty, as she was known, was born on Aug. 8, 1942 in Mountain City, Tenn. to the late Joe and Maude Combs Wilson.
She and her husband Dwight owned and operated the Thomas Grocery for many years. Thomas was a member of the Little Rock Creek Baptist Church and enjoyed shopping and going to the beach.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dwight Thomas, and siblings R.L. Wilson, Helen Bartlett and Bill Wilson.
Thomas is survived by her children, Joe (Ann) Thomas of Spruce Pine, Gerald (Carrie) Thomas of Cleveland, Va. and Gregory Thomas of Bakersville, and her three grandchildren, Chloe, Shelby and Danny.
The family would like to thank Jim and Tomesa Miles for the loving care and being there with them through everything.
Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 23, 2026 in the Major Cemetery with the Rev. Keith Beck officiating.
