Kathi Ireland Obituary

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a pioneer for girls' softball, being one of the first female coaches in West Des Moines. Kathi taught us to love God, family, and football; though, not specifically in that order. From her collection of precious moments dolls to her entourage of stuffed animals, she was truly one of a kind. We love her, we miss her, and we will hold her dear in our hearts.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Margaret Beaty.
She is survived by her husband, Carl and sister, (Dorothy) Gene Neal. Her children, Vicki (Randy) of Ankeny, Ia., Kati of Denver, Co., Amy of Ankeny, Ia., and Mike (Pam) of Ankeny, Ia. Her grandchildren Christy (Leighton), Randall (Sarah), Ashley (Todd), Nicole, Bailey, and Jimmy D. Her great-grandchildren Sam, Elijah, Joe, Aria, Hannah, Emma, Declan, and Brendan.

Kathi was my softball coach for several years. Enjoyed having her as a coach and playing on the Dolphins. Those were good times and fun memories. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.

I was her neighbor for a number of years. My parents left me at home sick from school. Mom left her percolator of fresh coffee on the counter. I went to get a glass of chocolate milk out of cupboard just above the percolator and knocked it off the counter all over the front of me. When I took my pj's off skin all came off with it. The only thing I could do was call Kathi next door for help. She administered first aid and took me to emergency care facility. I tell this of myself only to praise her for her loving and quick thinking that saved me from infection and scarring. Kathi RIP I'll hug your neck again one day to thank you again for your selflessness that saved me. Love you and yours, Doug Stolz
