Kathleen Alcorn Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Reeb Funeral Home on Dec. 1, 2025.
Kathleen Trudy Alcorn-known lovingly as Mom, Grandma, Ole Grandma-went to be with her beloved husband on Friday, November 28, 2025. She was 89.
Born on April 16, 1936, in Dearborn, MI, to the late Fredrick Henry and Lillian Madeline (Reznick) Helmke, Trudy lived a life defined by devotion, kindness, and family. She was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Charles Edwin Alcorn Jr., with whom she built a life filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished moments.
Together, Trudy and Chuck raised four children: Connie Gregory, Laurie Cousino, Chuck (Lori) Alcorn III, and Bob (Linda) Alcorn. Her legacy continues through seven grandchildren: Trudy Cousino-Foster, Roger (Lynne) Cordrey, Heidi (Scott) Holden, Brandy (Craig) Koperski, Courtney (Adam) Duncan, Amanda Wing, and Chaz (Kelly) Alcorn; fourteen great-grandchildren: Daniel (Christina) Cousino, Michael (Becca) Foster, Morgan Foster, Brianna Koperski, Makenzie Cordrey, Taylor Cordrey, Blake Cordrey, Dominic White, Bryce White, Jaxon Duncan, Sydney Duncan, Charlie Alcorn, Avery Alcorn, and Drew Alcorn; and one great-great granddaughter, Memphis Foster.
She is also preceded in death by her siblings: Fredrick "Fritz" Henry Helmke Jr., Lalyne Nina Helmke, and Mitzie Marie Henry.
Trudy retired from the Toledo Mental Health Center in 1993, where she worked for many years as a nurse's aide in the geriatric unit on 3rd shift. Her dedication and compassion earned her honors such as Humanitarian of the Year and Employee of the Month.
Trudy was a woman of many talents. She could sew and crochet almost anything, and she created the most beautiful "Grandma Blankets." She found joy in cooking, baking, and fishing. She was endlessly caring, always eager to learn, and ever ready to help her grandchildren and great-grandchildren with homework or school projects. When one of them advanced to the next grade, she would proudly say, "I passed ____ grade again!"
Her warmth, wisdom, and wonderful sense of humor shone through in everything she did-from the advice she gave, to the way she sang and danced, to the laughter she inspired. Her family and friends will forever cherish the stories, smiles, and memories she leaves behind.
The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Heartland Hospice for their compassionate care and support.
Honoring her final wishes, graveside services will be held on Friday, December 5 at 2pm at Ottawa Hills Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest in the Garden of Love beside her husband.
