MORTON – Kathleen A. “Kathy” Dallinger, 71, of Morton, passed away into the loving arms of Jesus on Saturday, December 23, 2023, at her home.
She was born on July 29, 1952, in Peoria, to William and Doris (Kaufman) Dallinger.
Surviving are her sister, Barb Dallinger of Normal; aunts, Charlene Kaufman and Phyllis Shepard; cousins, Christine (Darrell) Amerman, Robert (Kathy) Kaufman, Yvonne Cole, David (Laurie) Streeb, Doug Streeb, Daniel Streeb, Jeri Lynn Kaufman, Kelly Jo (Elmer) Brockway, Diana (Darrin) Sparks, Carla (Doug) Dewing, Jodi (Sean) Fernandez, Richard (Edith) Dallinger, John (Judy) Dallinger, and Tom (Donna) Dallinger. Also surviving are all her cousins’ children and grandchildren, whom she loved so much.
She was preceded in death by her parents and infant brother, Eugene.
Kathy graduated Morton Township High School in 1970, and went on to attend ICC and Bradley University. She worked over 40 years at Caterpillar Inc.; retiring in 2013, from the Edwards Demonstration and Training Center. Kathy worked in numerous departments over her time at Caterpillar and was well respected and valued for her mentoring and organization skills. She formed many close friendships over the years. Kathy was the first Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) at Caterpillar paving the way for others to follow her footsteps. During her career, she traveled extensively both domestically and internationally. Kathy enjoyed being a part of the Caterpillar team at CONEXPO and MINExpo events, as well as working at the Tucson Training and Demonstration Area.
Kathy was a lifelong member of Morton Methodist Church. She was a faithful servant of the Lord, and was very involved in many areas of her church. She oversaw the Welcome Desk, lead a Bible study, was a member of Sarah Circle, a member of the Administrative Board and president elect for the Morton Methodist Woman of Faith. Kathy served on the district United Woman in Faith Board for several years with her passion being her service for the Cunningham Children’s Home. Kathy was also a member of the Peoria Historical Society and Peoria Women’s Club.
Kathy’s greatest love was her family and friends, and she cherished the relationship she had with them. Kathy found joy in traveling and working in her yard, especially nurturing her flowers. In her spare time, she attended and taught cooking lessons at Lori’s Kitchen in Washington. Kathy touched so many lives by visiting, sending handwritten cards, and sharing meals and treats. Her presence will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and every organization that in which she was involved.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, January 3, 2023, at Morton Methodist Church in Morton, with Pastor Bill Novak officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, January 2, and from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Wednesday, prior to the service, both at the church. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memory Gardens in Morton.
Memorials may be made to Morton Methodist Church.
