Kathy and I attended Mt. St John's Academy together in the early 1970s. She was a firecracker! She was full of life, of energy, of laughter. She also had a strong streak of independence that I hope she never lost. We were attending a Catholic girls' school with uniforms in the days when the fashion was miniskirts up to the top of your thighs. Kathy would roll up the top of her skirt and hide it underneath the wide belt we all wore. Her hem got higher and higher...until one day Sister Redempta pulled her out of line and yanked her skirt down in front of all of us! If she was embarrassed she never showed it . She just kept on rolling up her skirt an inch or two, determined to keep on being herself.
I remember "the two Kathy's"- she and her best friend, Kathleen Hynes always chumming together in the lunchroom, in the classrooms, in gym. They had such fun together! I hope that she never lost the irrepressible sense of fun and adventure that she had as a teenager.
Rest in peace, Kathy. Condolences to all of her family .
