Sarah Kathleen "Kathy" Lewis, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, went to be with the Lord on June 23, 2024 at the age of 61.

Kathy was born December 24, 1962 in Madisonville, Texas to Jimmy and Joan Anderson. She attended Madisonville High School where she met her husband, Robert Lewis. She graduated from Madisonville High School before attending McKenzie-Baldwin Business School, and went on to work locally in her hometown. Kathy and Robert were married August 21, 1982, at First Baptist Church in Madisonville Texas. Together they had two children, Dana and Dane.

Kathy devoted herself to the care and upbringing of her family with a love and devotion that spilled over to her surrounding community. Above all, Kathy's life was defined by sharing her joy in Christ. She was well known for her warmth and willingness to labor in service to others, often behind the scenes. Kathy's steadfast love and devotion felt by her community were experienced greater still by those who knew her as wife, mom, "KatKat," daughter, and sister. Known for tirelessly going above and beyond, to be loved by Kathy was to never tackle any hardship alone. To be loved by Kathy was to see life's joys celebrated in her contagious smile and laugh. Her love for her family came second, only to Christ, her Savior. All was done in service to Christ, her Savior.

Kathy was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Madisonville. She served in various areas of ministry including, but not limited to choir, children's choir, "Pathway of Light," "Heartfelt Ministry," and nursery. Outside of her involvement in her home church, she served numerous times at Tres Dias. Kathy also treasured the wonderful memories made serving at "Camp 220."

Kathy was well loved by those who worked alongside her at Region 6 in Huntsville, Texas where she began working in January of 2000. Kathy continued to enjoy working part time at Region 6, after retiring from her full-time position in February of 2019.

In recent years Kathy modeled great courage in the face of many hardships. In 2019 she was diagnosed with Stage 2 Breast Cancer and would go on to receive treatment resulting in being cleared in the following year, 2020. Kathy would testify that it was during her battle with cancer she experienced a deepening of her faith and new profound trust in the Lord. The strengthening of her faith would become a refuge as Kathy joined her family in grieving the great loss of her grandson, Bennett in 2022 who was diagnosed with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. Kathy also spent a great portion of time caring for her mother who suffered from Alzheimer's disease, as well as her father who suffered briefly from cancer. She would endure the passing of both her parents in 2023. In all circumstances she clung tightly to her faith and never wavered in encouraging others to put their hope in the Lord.

Throughout her struggles, Kathy never discounted the value of a day at the beach, a scenic road trip in the mountains, a good cup of coffee, or humming along to her constantly-playing worship music. Kathy loved these things for one of two reasons. Either it facilitated time with people she loved, or it facilitated time with her Heavenly Father. She was tickled PINK if it did both. Kathy left a legacy of truly loving God and loving people.

Kathy was preceded in death by her grandson, Bennett Gatlin; her father, Jimmy Anderson; and mother, Joan Anderson. She is survived by her husband, Robert Lewis; children, Dana Gatlin (Brandon) and Dane Lewis (Jessica); grandchildren, Haden Zacharias, Gavin Lewis, and Naythan Lewis; siblings, Bobby Anderson (Stephanie) and Jimmy Dee Anderson (Memory).

A funeral service honoring Kathy's life will be held 11 A.M., Friday, June 28, 2024, at First Baptist Church, Madisonville, Texas, immediately followed by burial in McAdams Cemetery, Walker County, Texas.  A brief visitation will take place prior to the service at the First Baptist Church from 10 A.M. to service time.
