She was a great school teacher! I was her student in 1977-1979. Mainly science class. She took us on trips to Chicago's Museum of science and industry and then Washington DC, to many sights there! She took groups of us out for pizza, as well as many other after school activities. We had alot of fun, and her skills as a teacher taught me more than anyone. She had amazing ways of making you think, and engaging you in learning. I still think of her often! This is a picture of a bunch of us. Kathy is 3rd from left.
She once challenged us that if you walk or ran in the rain you would get just as wet either way! So, we put sponge on our head and 1 walked and the other ran around the outside of school in pouring rain...... suckers. The one who ran was much less wet of course! We proved by weighing the sponges.

Along with being a beloved step-Mom, Teacher, and science guru, Kathy was a charter member of the NSTA "Shell Science Teaching Award" Committee, where I was blessed to meet and work with her. Kathy had a zeal and interest in life, and learning. She anticipated and expected excellence from all she encountered. She did not suffer fools. Kathy was my friend, and co-conspirator. I miss her. She once sagely shared with me that "before you go diving into that pool, make sure there is water there...." This advice saved me from myself, more than once. Thank you, Kathy. Kathy was wise, funny, joyful and spirited. May she rest in peace.

Kathy was my mentor and co-worker at Pike High School in Indianapolis Indiana. Kathy was an award winning Environmental Science teacher ( Golden Apple, Toyota Tapestry to name 2). She served as the District 10 representative for the NSTA for several terms and was a fantastic teacher, friend. Medical complications took her out of the classroom and we lost touch. She is still missed and we hope to get her name on the Outdoor Lab she worked so hard on.
