Katie was a wonderful St Anne parishioner and a joy to work with on St Anne programs. I remember fondly her lovely attitude about all things. She was always kind to my parents and always lit up a room. We wish her family Grace in this time and more joy as you remember her spirt.

Katie was my first friend in South Barrington. She dropped off Christmas greenery for years. She had my daughter in law jennifer 's baby shower and had many beautiful Christmas brunches with wonderful friends and hospitality. She was one in a million with deep faith and a true pearl. I know God is so happy to welcome Katie to her new home.
Love. Florette and Andrew Sokulski

I met Katie as an Arlington Hts., Pi Phi alum. She was exuberant, friendly, kind and always willing to volunteer. She made me one of much in demand Pi Phi Christmas sweaters which I still wear. How fortunate I am to own a piece of her many talents. She was a remarkable woman and I am so fortunate to have known her. Kathy Zweidinger

Katie WAS fun. We played gold and tennis together alot in the early days.
Once on the golf course a group of men playing behind us asked Katie if she was one of those liberated women. Katie thought for minute and then replied
"well my husband left at 4:30 this morning to drive to the city for work, my kids are in school and here I am playing golf , going to lunch, and playing bridge later so I guess I am Liberated. That was Katie.

I had the opportunity to get to know Katie and Red while living in Chicago. When you saw Red out and about in the floral industry the first questions you would always ask is where is Katie. As an AFE trustee I saw them many times and would often get to sit with them during a meal. She was witty, bright, warm, and friendly. The first to say if she did not remember your name but would always remember your face. I will miss her soft pat on your arm when she saw you and the warm smile that always greeted me. My heart goes out to Red and the family.

I met Katie at my first Pi Beta Phi Alumnae Club meeting in 1995. She was warm and engaging- and lots of fun. She holds a special place in my heart always. My sincerest sympathy to Red and her family for your loss. Thank you for sharing your beautiful light with the rest of us.
