Kathleen Knechtel Obituary
Born May 29, 1948 in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Harriet Margel.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, David Knechtel; daughter, Lisa (Kevin) Page; son, Jeffrey (Erin) Knechtel; grandchildren: Josh (Antonia) Loper, Tyler (Emily) Loper, Tanner Gill, Brayden Knechtel, Brynley Page, Zachary Knechtel; and brother, William (Sandy) Margel. Also surviving are many loved in-laws, nieces, and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Jennifer Loper, and sister, Patty Heese.
For 30 years, Kathy spent many hours with good friends while working at local Hallmark stores where she was known as "The Hallmark Lady" by her loving customers. She cherished time spent making memories with her siblings at the casino. Kathy valued having cookouts and pig roasts with her incredible neighbors and friends. Being "Nunny" to her grandchildren and grand-dogs gave her the most joy.
Kathy's family will welcome friends Monday, October 21, 2024, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at King Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 2841 Woodland Circle in Allison Park, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 22, at the St. Victor Roman Catholic Church, Bairdford, PA with Father James Holland officiating.
Kathy, known as "Special K" to the wonderful staff at the Hillman Cancer Center, formed incredible bonds with those in charge of her care. The family requests those who wish to express sympathy in lieu of flowers to consider making a memorial donation to the UPMC Hillman Cancer Center at UPMC Passavant, 9100 Babcock Blvd., Pittsburgh, PA 15237.
