Kathleen Kolb Obituary
Born on August 12, 1929, in the Canarsie neighborhood of Brooklyn, NY, Kathleen was the daughter of Barbara and Louis Mathews. Canarsie was more than her birthplace - it was part of her identity. The Mathews family were long-time residents, and Kathleen took quiet pride in the fact that her grandfather had been born there as well. Brooklyn roots ran deep in her heart.
In her sixties, Kathleen retired to Whiting, NJ, where she enjoyed many years of community and friendship. In her nineties, she moved to Tolland, CT, to be closer to family.
Kathleen is survived by her sons, Kenneth Kolb (Debra Carlotti) and Warren Kolb (Jacqueline Kolb); her beloved grandchildren, Cristina Leoni-Osion (Maurice Leoni-Osion), Alexander Kolb (Jordan Parker), Madison Kolb, and Tyler Kolb; and her precious great-grandchild, Ori Leoni-Osion. She was predeceased by her devoted husband, William Kolb, and her seven siblings.
Kathleen will be remembered as a strong and determined woman who raised her two sons while working full-time - long before it was common or easy to do so. She was fiercely devoted to her family and provided loving, steadfast care to her husband at the end of his life. To her nieces and nephews, she was the "crazy" aunt - the fun one, the one who made gatherings lively, and the one they gravitated toward. Her quick wit and sharp sense of humor stayed with her throughout her life.
Her legacy lives on in the resilience, loyalty, and laughter she passed down through generations.
Visitation will take place on Sunday, March 1st, from 2–4 PM and 7–9 PM at Perry Funeral Home, 118 Union Ave, Lynbrook, NY 11563. On Monday, March 2nd, a funeral service will be held from 8:30 AM–8:45 AM at the same location, followed by burial at Canarsie Cemetery, 1370 Remsen Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11236, from 10 AM– 10:30 AM.
