Kathleen "Taffy" Mace

A Funeral Mass for Kathleen "Taffy" Mace, age 77, will be held on Saturday March 7th, 2026 at 10:00AM at St. Alphonsus Church with Rev. Severinus Torwoe officiating. Kathleen passed away peacefully on February 25, 2026 at Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.

Kathleen was born on June 18, 1948, in Watertown NY, the daughter of Peter Moeller and Elsie Ploof Moeller. On May 29, 1968, she married David Mace in Malone, and together they built a life centered on family.

She worked for many years as a direct care aide with Adirondack ARC before retiring. Kathleen took pride in her work and cared deeply about the people she supported.

In her free time, Kathleen enjoyed fueling her creativity with crossword puzzles, reading, ceramics and painting, as well as bowling and playing cards with friends. She valued time spent with family and the simple routines that brought everyone together.

Kathleen is survived by her daughters, Heather Mace of Tupper Lake and Kimberly (Keith) Shackett of Malone; her step-grandson, Alexander (Abril) Shackett; her step-great-grandson, Damian Shackett; her sister Lori (Jeff) Strait; her brothers, Patrick (Lorie) Bacon; John (Rebecca) Bacon; Billy (Donna) Bacon; and Thomas Fitzpatrick. She is survived by many loving nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband, David; her brother, Richard Moeller; her sister, Rita Bacon; and her sister-in-law, Eleanor Moeller; nephews and a niece.

Kathleen will be remembered for her love for everyone that she knew always greeting them with a huge smile and hug, her creativity, and her devotion to her family and friends.
