New Comer Cremations & Funerals - ColonieSchenectady- Kathleen J. Mazzarella, 74, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 7, 2025 at her home with her loving family by her side. She was the daughter of the late August and Virginia Alescio. Kathleen was the devoted wife to Frank W. Mazzarella. They were married 53 years.
Kathleen worked as a secretary at GE, an assistant teacher at Pineview Preschool for many years, and retired as a sales administrative specialist at Newkirk Products.
Kathleen was a proud contributor of the City Mission of Schenectady.
Kathleen enjoyed spending time with her entire family and loved cooking Italian food and baking with her grandchildren. She loved going to support her children and grandchildren at their special events. Kathleen was an avid reader.
In addition to her husband, Kathleen is survived by her children, Michelle (Darren) Howard and Mike (Melanie) Mazzarella; grandchildren, Kaylee Howard, Nick Howard, Arabelle Mazzarella,and Sadie Mazzarella; siblings, Mike, John, Joe (Judy), and Bob Alescio; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and friends.
In addition to her parents, Kathleen is predeceased by her brother, Chuck Alescio.
Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, New York on Saturday January 31, 2026 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm with a celebration of life to begin at 1:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Kathleen's name to City Mission of Schenectady. Please mail all gifts to: City Mission PO Box 760 Schenectady, NY 12301.
