Kathleen Murasso Obituary

Kathleen (Dembicki) Murasso

Town of Poughkeepsie - Kathleen (Dembicki) Murasso peacefully left this earth on January 15, 2021 surrounded by her beloved husband, Louis D. Murasso Sr., and children in her Town of Poughkeepsie home after struggling with a long illness. She was the youngest daughter of the late Michael and Rosa Dembicki, predeceased by two brothers, Michael, and Harold (Babe) Dembicki, and survived by oldest brother, Harry Dembicki, of Florida as well as sisters, Geraldine Simmons, of Salt Point and Frances Petroccitto of Hyde Park.

Kathleen, born and raised in Poughkeepsie attended Poughkeepsie High School. She met her future husband in 1948 on Delafield Street which began a seventy-three-year love story that led to marriage in 1951 and the births of six children who were privileged to witness their parents' steadfast dedication to each other through the best and sometimes challenging times. Mrs. Murasso worked at Western Printing during the early years of her marriage. She then became primarily focused on raising her growing family and assisting her husband in every way possible to establish Murasso Signs in 1959 and through her incalculable tireless contributions helped grow it into a successful business that is still in operation today.

Kathleen is also survived by her husband, Louis D. Murasso Sr., her three daughters, Rosa Lee Murasso of Poughkeepsie, Jo Ann Stevens and her son, Jackson, of Vermont, Kimberly Coe, her husband, Paul Black, of Maryland and their sons, Daniel, Timothy, and Jonathan; three sons - Louis D. Murasso Jr., his wife, Dawn, of Poughkeepsie, their two children, Jeremy and Sophie, Frank Murasso of Poughkeepsie and his children, Amanda, Brianna, and Liam, and Christopher Murasso, his wife, Lisa, of Eastchester, NY and their children, Jonah and Chloe. Also surviving are Kathleen's two cherished great-grandchildren, Paris Murasso and William Coe, as well as numerous nieces and nephews who will dearly miss their Aunt Kathy/Kay.

Kathleen was a dynamic force who faithfully fed the minds, bodies and souls of her family, the original Wonder Woman who always stood with arms akimbo surveying her domain. As a devout member of St. Peter's Parish in Hyde Park, she regularly attended services at Our Lady of the Rosary Chapel, from which she derived great strength.

Our dear mother and wife loved to listen to all kinds of music from Neil Diamond to Pink Floyd, made the most delicious lasagna for every family holiday but never sat long enough to enjoy it as she was always making sure everyone had what they needed.

We will miss her beautiful face, her generous smile and indefatigable selflessness, never to be forgotten.

Thank you to Hospice and all the angels they sent to care for Kathleen, as they ensured her comfort while at home. We are grateful for their service.

Memorial service pending.
