Kathleen Lee Persinger

Kathleen Lee Persinger, 55, of Denison, Iowa formerly of Hornick, Iowa died unexpectedly Sunday, July 6, 2014 at her residence. Graveside services will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, July 10, 2014 at Grant Township Cemetery, rural Rodney, Iowa with Reverend Jena Manchester, officiating. Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at the Rush Family Chapel in Onawa, Iowa with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service, Onawa, Iowa. Kathleen Lee was born March 18, 1959 in Sioux City, Iowa the daughter of Arnold John and Velma "Molly" (Carter) Grell. She grew up on a farm outside of Mapleton, Iowa and graduated from Maple Valley Community High School in 1977. Kathleen and Mark Persinger were united in marriage on February 10, 1979 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Mapleton, Iowa. Kathleen worked as a teller for Toy National Bank in Sioux City, Iowa and then as a secretary for AGP, Sioux City for over 10 years. She also worked as a secretary for Empire Gas in Hornick, Iowa for several years. She was on the volunteer fire department while her and Mark lived in Morrill, Maine from 1987 until 1991 until moving back to Hornick and recently to Denison, Iowa. She liked to cut wood and enjoyed spending time in the outdoors, gardening and tending to flowers. Kathleen was a member of the Ticonic United Methodist Church, Ticonic, Iowa. Survivors include her husband, Mark Persinger of Denison, Iowa; children, Holly (Shawn) Myers of Smithland, Iowa, Candi (JLee) Gress of Sloan, Iowa, and Markie (Matt) Burton of Sloan, Iowa; close family, Amy (Shawn) Larison of Wellington, Missouri; her grandchildren, Markes and Makenna Myers, Kali Jo Chapman, Jesse, Brady, and Gracee Burton, and Isabella, Annabelle, Madelyn and Josephine Larison; her siblings, Cora (Jack) Howley of Del Rio, Texas, Arnold "Butch" (Charlene) Grell of Moville, Iowa, Sara (Rex) Persinger of Hornick, Iowa, Willy (LuAnn) Grell of Whiting, Iowa, Velma (Tina) Grell of Onawa, Iowa and Eddie Grell of Soldier, Iowa; and mother and father-in-law, Rex and Rose Marie Persinger of Hornick, Iowa.
