Kathleen Reeg Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Funeral Home and Crematory on Dec. 30, 2024.
Kathleen (Regan) Reeg, age 86, of Dubuque, Iowa, passed away Saturday, December 28, 2024, at Stonehill with family at her side.
Visitation for family and friends will be Monday, January 6, from 9-11 am, with an 11 am service led by Holy Ghost Deacon David Roth at Egelhof, Siegert & Casper, 2659 John F Kennedy Rd, Dubuque. Burial will be at Mt Calvary Cemetery in Dubuque.
Kathleen (Katie, Kay) was born in Rickardsville, Iowa on April 16, 1938, the daughter of John and Veronica (Lex) Regan. The fourth of nine children, she grew up on the family farm and loved sharing stories about her sibling "shenanigans". She graduated from Holy Cross High School in 1956 and played defense on the women's basketball team. After graduation, she moved to Dubuque and attended business school before working at the Dubuque Packing Company in the office.
Katie met Perly Reeg at a dance at the Melody Mill, where they continued to enjoy going to dances and live music. They married on June 25, 1960, at St. Joseph's Church in Rickardsville, and honeymooned in Colorado. Perly and Katie enjoyed taking their six children camping and fishing, and they continued to travel through retirement, visiting their adult children around the country, often with grandchildren in tow. They were married for 61 years at the time of Perly's passing in 2021.
Katie cherished her bowling team and their tournament trips around the country. She was a wonderful cook who loved hosting parties and Euchre games for family and friends. Katie was a talented seamstress, sewing many of her kids' clothes and Halloween costumes. She enjoyed sharing her creativity with grandkids with activities like painting and building snow sculptures. She had a magnificent flower garden which was the focus of her summer days.
Katie is survived by her children Jackie Reeg of Fort Collins, CO, Patricia Noble of Viroqua, WI, Thomas (Mary) Reeg of Dubuque, and Kevin (Ana) Reeg of Walnut Creek, CA; 14 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; brother John (Maureen) Regan; and sisters Margaret Kurth and Alice Rhomberg.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Thomas Regan and James (Sandy) Regan; sisters Mary (Carl) Lange, Jeanie (Leroy) Reeg, and Irene Hauber; and daughters Julie Palmer and Karen Baltierra.
Katie's family would like to thank the staff at Home Instead, Assisi Village, Stonehill and Hospice of Dubuque for their professional and attentive care.
