Kathleen Ann Reichenberger, 80, devoted and faith-filled spouse, mother, and homemaker, entered eternal life on Wednesday, June 4th, 2025. Kathleen was born in Wichita, KS on September 4th, 1944 and grew up on a farm near Yates Center, KS.
On May 22nd, 1971, Kathleen was married to Tom Reichenberger at St. Joseph church in Wichita. She had a great devotion to him, her spouse of 54 years. Shortly after their wedding, Tom and Kathleen moved to the current family home west of Andale. Tom and Kathleen poured themselves into making their home a place for family to gather and memories to be made. Kathleen was always excited for the next chance to have a family gathering and hoped each person could be there to make it feel complete. She will be deeply missed.
Kathleen was a humble and gentle person who put her whole heart and being into her family and homemaking. She enjoyed gardening, baking, music, and spoiling her grandkids. She was spirited, positive, resilient, and had a great sense of humor. She especially enjoyed the Fourth of July holiday and was known for setting firecrackers off outside of bedroom windows to wake kids up! Over the years, Kathleen was also active in St. Joseph's altar society, the school parent organization, and the Andale 4-H Club. Kathleen's faith was deep and evident in all that she did. She led by quiet example and modeled how to live a life grounded solidly in faith and prayer. Her example and legacy will live on for generations to come in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Kathleen is preceded in death by her parents, Florian Anthony and Dorothy Frances (Pauly) Leis of Yates Center, KS; grandson Lance Reichenberger; two sisters Jean Temming and Mary Frances King; brother John Leis. She is survived by her husband, Tom Reichenberger of Andale, KS; children, Cheri (Frank) Ojile of Andale, KS, Carla (Mike) Simon of Wichita, KS, Bart (Jane) Reichenberger of Andale, KS, Maria (Jeff) Howell of Wichita, KS, Becky Leis of Wichita, KS, Sister Marie Reichenberger of Tyringham, MA, Marcy (Ryan) Melcher of Kechi, KS, Julie (Lucas) Carlson of Lincolnville, KS, and Katie (Russell) Becker of Wichita, KS; twenty-three grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; siblings Virginia Biggs, Theresa Henkle, Cyrilla Cooper, Victor Leis, Arlene Ling, Wendell Leis, Steven Leis, and Mercedes Bienhoff.
Rosary will be at 5:00 pm, Sunday, June 8th, with funeral Mass at 10:30 am, Monday, June 9th, 2025, both at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Andale, KS, with burial immediately following.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a Mass offered for her or a memorial contribution to the Sisters of Visitation (14 Beach Road, Tyringham, MA 01264).
Flowers will be accepted at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Andale.
