Celebrating a Life Well Lived
DEERFIELD – LITTLE FALLS - It is with deep sorrow and much love that we announce the passing of our beloved Kathleen (Kate), who departed this life on Monday, October 20th, 2025, in Rome, New York.
Kate was born on December 16th, 1951, in Herkimer. She was the daughter of Frank and Irene (Jacobs) Skubitz. Kate married James (Jim) Quatrino on June 14th, 1986, and together with Jim's son Jason, they enjoyed a full and happy life until Jim's untimely passing on March 2nd, 1999.
Kate attended Richfield Springs Central School and received her associate's degree in business from Herkimer County Community College. Kate worked as an Import Specialist at Casa Imports, Utica, NY, for over 30 years, where she retired in 2018. Kate was a cherished member of the Emmanuel Episcopal Church community in Little Falls. At Emmanuel, Kate served as Assistant Treasurer for over ten years, was a joyful member of the Helping Hands Prayer Group and the Vestry, and tirelessly baked pies for all church fundraisers. Her fellow parishioners will dearly miss her.
Kate absolutely cherished her family; she was a devoted stepmom to Jason, and a fun-loving aunt to her niece and great-niece Stephanie and Michaela. She and her sister Pat traveled extensively together, enjoying many years of happy memories.
Anyone who knew Kate absolutely loved her infectious laugh. Her good spirit, quick wit, and sense of humor are traits that drew so many to her. She honored her friendships, especially with Carolyn, with whom she lived for over a decade. She was an honorary member of the Tramp and Trail Club of Utica. In her spare time, Kate enjoyed attending concerts, playing cards, and traveling. Her favorite trip was to Marco Island, FL, with her family. Kate was an avid football fan, cheering the NY Football Giants for well over thirty years. Kate enjoyed baking for the holidays and most recently treasured her half-birthday celebrations at the pool.
Kate is survived by her sister Patricia (Skubitz) Davis, niece Stephanie (Davis) Manni (Michael), great-niece/goddaughter Michaela Manni, stepson Jason Quatrino (Jana), step granddaughter Isabelle. She is preceded in death by James Quatrino and her parents.
A celebration of Kate's life will be held on Saturday, November 8th, 2025, at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 588 Albany Street, Little Falls, NY, beginning with calling hours at 11:00 a.m., service at 12:00 p.m. Family and friends are invited to gather, share stories, and honor the remarkable legacy that Kate leaves behind.
Her interment alongside Jim at St. Mary's Cemetery, town of Herkimer, will be privately attended.
The family would like to recognize and send a special thank you to the staff and caregivers at Abraham House, Rome, and the nurses of Hospice Palliative Care of New Hartford.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Emmanuel Episcopal Church or Abraham House, 417 N Washington Street, Rome, NY 13440.
