Kathleen Thompson
Turners Falls, MA - Kathleen (Snay) Thompson, 81, of Millers Falls Road died Sunday 11/9/25 at the Charlene Manor Extended Care Facility in Greenfield. She was born in Worcester, MA on April 13, 1944, the daughter of Leo and Donna (Wood) Snay.
Kathy graduated from Leicester High school. She then attended Worcester State College where she earned a degree in teaching. Kathy worked for many years before returning to Worcester State College where she earned a Master's degree in Education. She did this while working full time, raising two children, and being a loving wife to Ed. Earning this degree was one of her proudest accomplishments.
Kathy's passion was teaching. She greatly enjoyed teaching first graders at Leicester Primary School where she taught for 34 years. She retired from there in 2002. Kathy was an outstanding teacher. She spent countless hours correcting papers, designing new bulletin boards, wrapping holiday presents, and working hard to make sure each student felt important and heard in her classes. Her teacher peers frequently commented on how prepared her students were for 2nd grade. Kathy was clearly born to teach.
Kathy was a beloved mother to her 2 children, Cheryl and Joseph. She attended many school functions and sporting events in support of them. Her loving guidance and support was crucial to the well-being and success of her children. Once her children became parents, she became a loving supporting grandmother.
Kathy enjoyed theater productions, crossword puzzles, and collecting various items. Mostly, Kathy enjoyed spending time with her beloved husband, Ed, and their two children. For the last 10 years of Ed's life, Kathy loving cared for him in their home. When he passed in 2010, he took a part of her that she never recovered from.
Among her survivors, Kathy leaves a daughter, Cheryl A. Thompson and her wife Wendy of Turners Falls; a son, Joseph E. Thompson of Woodstock, CT; a sister, Nancy Conlon and her husband Tom of Worcester, MA; and a brother, Wayne Snay of Rochdale, MA; and four beloved grandchildren, Michael A. Thompson, Jonathan E. Thompson, Makayla R. Thompson and Joseph E. Thompson, Jr. She also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Kathy was predeceased by her beloved husband, Edward J. Thompson in 2010 and her daughter in law, Melissa Booth Thompson in 2014.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday 11/25 from 5:30pm-7:30pm at the Kostanski Funeral Home, 1 Kostanski Square, Turners Falls. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
