Kathryn (Cashy) Eleanor Bartels peacefully passed away Friday, Oct. 10, 2025, surrounded by her family. Cashy was preceded in death by her father, John Fisch; mother, Mary Fisch; husband, George Bartels; and granddaughter-in-law, Kathleen (Gregory) Bartels.
Surviving Cashy is her partner, Chuck Jungwirth; son, Brian Bartels and his wife Valerie Bartels; daughter, Merry Dawn Bartels; and grandsons, Gregory Bartels, Jarod (Autumn) Bartels and Robert Bartels (Anna Zedar). Cashy is also survived by six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Cashy lived the majority of her life in Westville, Indiana, with her husband, George. Her work was primarily in the public sector with remarkable achievements, including being a founding member of the Zeta Omicron chapter of Tri-Kappa, the first woman to be elected president of the Westville Town Board serving two terms, and 16 years as the township assessor, township trustee and Westville Schools administrator.
"A life well lived," Mom traveled extensively throughout the United States and Europe. She retired and moved to Ft. Myers, Florida, in 2004, where she met Chuck. Together, they shared a new beginning and continued a life of happiness and abundance, continuing her wacky escapades.
Mom's interests included growing plants and flowers, arts and crafts painting projects, and tastefully decorating the home she shared with Chuck. She loved all of the artwork that her great-grandchildren created as it is proudly displayed around her home. She let them get away with things she didn't let her own grandchildren get away with. They brought immeasurable joy to Mom, and I am so thankful she was able to be part of their lives and watch them grow.
