Kathryn A. Close, age 70, of Green Bay, passed away peacefully at her home, Friday, March 22, 2024, with her daughters at her side. She was born October 22, 1953 in Green Bay, daughter of the late Ronald and Elizabeth "Betty" (Raasch) Sanders.
Kathy was a graduate of Green Bay Southwest High School, Class of 1971. She married Harold W. Close, November 18, 1972. They shared 42 years of marriage before Harold passed away in December of 2014. Kathy worked alongside her parents at their bar, Schooners Bar & Grill in downtown Green Bay. While raising her family, she worked at Larsen Canning Company as a foreman and later held various positions at Fort Howard Paper Mill.
Kathy's daughters admired her for her incredible work ethic. She enjoyed regular trips to the casino and playing BINGO. Playing card games with her family was one of her favorite past times. She was an avid Green Bay Packer fan. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy.
Kathryn is survived by her daughters, Carrie (Mark) Dewey of Scottsdale, AZ and Theresa (Troy) Delaurelle of Green Bay, WI; 2 grandchildren, Kelsey (Skyler) Wavrunek and Bailey (Alea) Wavrunek and a brother, Robert Sanders. She is further survived by a sister-in-law, Shawn Sanders, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Harold and siblings, Michael "Mike" Sanders and Susan Naug.
Visitation will be held at Newcomer-Green Bay Chapel (340 S. Monroe Ave., Green Bay, WI), Tuesday, March 26, 2024 from 4 to 7 PM.
