Kathryn M. Conway, 75, of Lansing, IA, lost her battle with cancer on Monday, February 27, 2023, at Northgate Care Center in Waukon, IA. Kathryn Mary Luth Conway was born August 14, 1947, in Waukon, IA, the daughter of Henry and Margaret (Thorsten Ferring) Luth. Sadly, her daddy died when she was 11 years old, a loss she felt deeply. Kathy was baptized at St. Mary's Lycurgus Catholic Church in rural Waukon and confirmed at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lansing where she was a lifelong member. She graduated from Lansing Kee High School in 1965 then worked as a secretary for Peters Insurance Agency in Lansing. On August 20, 1966, she married the boy next door and love of her life, Leo Joseph Conway, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lansing. They farmed together in Center Township, rural Lansing, where they milked cows and raised crops. Kathy enjoyed working on the farm, driving tractor, spending time with her family and grandchildren. She also looked forward to mowing the lawn, working in the garden, and cooking. She loved watching basketball especially the Iowa Hawkeyes, followed March Madness, and enjoyed her game shows and EWTN. Country music was her favorite, especially the song "Picture in a Frame" by Moe Bandy; Saturday mornings were spent listening to KNEI and the Lil' Dale radio show.
Survivors include her husband Leo of Lansing; their children: Gregory (Jennifer) Conway and Gerald Conway, both of Lansing, Darcy (Daniel) Connelly of Harpers Ferry, Debra Conway of La Crosse, WI, and Gary (Gretchen) Conway of Springfield, IL; her grandchildren: Brandon and Caleb Conway, Damian and Sierra Schwier, Carter and Camden Conway, and Alyssa, Adelynn, Jackson and Wyatt Connelly; her siblings: Virginia (Mike) O'Hare, Lavonne (Tom) Callahan, Cindy (Jim) Callahan, Laure (George) Manning, Pam (Randy) Smith, and Robin (Dave) Johnson; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Theresa Lyons, Donna (Dick) Saddler, Mary (Roger) Quandahl, Kathy (Pat) Connelly, Pete (Diane) Conway, Kenny (Marsha) Conway, and Richard (Ruth) Welch.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother Jimmy Luth; her stepfather Robert Ferring; her father-in-law and mother-in-law Peter and Veronica Conway; a sister-in-law Ann Welch; and three brothers-in-law: Bob Pfiffner, Ralph Lyons, and John Conway.
