Kathryn S. Leaverton

Kathryn Shirley Leaverton (nee Gerger), age 89, passed peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday, September 21, 2025, on hospice care at her home in Glassboro, NJ. Born in Philadelphia, Kathryn went on to spend her years living in NJ, working as a bank teller, and later in the school system, after her children were grown.
She enjoyed spending her time cooking, baking, traveling with her husband up and down the east coast, quality time with her family, and watching her grandchildren play sports.
Kathryn is survived by her loving husband of 69 years, David W. Leaverton; her children; Leslie Litsch, Colette (Wayne) Fox, David N. (Margie) Leaverton, and Mark S. Leaverton. Also, by ten grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and son in law Douglas Gerner (late Judith Lynn Gerner)
Predeceased by her parents Nicholas F. and Kathryn S. Gerger (nee Oetzel), and her daughter, Judith Lynn Gerner.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Thursday, September 25, 2025, from 6:00pm - 8:00pm at Smith Funeral Home, 47 Main Street Mantua, NJ 08051. A funeral service will be held at 8:00pm in the funeral home. Burial will be private at a later date.
