Kathryn "Kathy" M. Ranzinger, 76, entered into eternal rest on Monday, October 27, 2025, in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
Born on February 21, 1949, in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late William and Catherine (Stoner) Ranzinger and was lovingly raised from a young age by the late Kathryn and John Smaling.
Kathy was a proud graduate of Hempfield High School and went on to attend Lock Haven University, where she earned her Master's degree in Education. She dedicated her life to teaching and retired after more than 30 years as a beloved Middle School Health and Physical Education teacher at York Suburban School District. Her passion for education and her gift for connecting with students left a lasting mark on countless young lives.
In 1987, Kathy met her life partner, Lisa Keller, and the two shared 38 wonderful years together. Their bond was one of deep love, laughter, and mutual respect - a true partnership through all of life's seasons.
Kathy was known for her blend of German stubbornness and Greek feistiness, a combination that gave her both a strong spirit and a zest for life. Her love of horses was a lifelong devotion. She found joy and purpose in the equestrian world, most notably with her beloved Morgan horse, Avalong's Serenade, with whom she earned numerous local, regional, and national awards.
Over the years, she guided many of her students to success in the show ring, sharing her expertise and passion with grace and generosity.
Beyond the stables, Kathy found delight in searching for antiques and one-of-a-kind treasures. She also cherished the companionship of the many dogs and cats who blessed her life.
Kathy is survived by her devoted partner, Lisa Keller, who stood faithfully by her side through all of life's journeys.
A Celebration of Life will be held to honor Kathy at a later date, with details to be announced.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Kathy to
Alzheimer's Association of Greater Pennsylvania Chapter or, Amedisys Hospice in Lancaster.
