Kathy Ann Askew of Snohomish, WA, passed away unexpectedly Monday, April 13, 2020 in Stanwood, WA, as the result of a tragic motorcycle accident. Kathy was born November 3, 1958, in Elizabeth City, North Carolina to parents Robert C. and Betty (Gartrell) Watson. The family moved to Washington in 1964 and Kathy graduated from Interlake High School in 1977. In 1985 she married Mick Askew, the love of her life, and in 1994 they had a son together, Sam, who was her pride and joy. They lived on Echo Lake in a beautiful home that they built together; their own little piece of paradise. Kathy went back to college and earned her Bachelor’s Degree in 2010, and worked at PPG Industries for 22 years.
Kathy loved her family and her friends dearly and she made everyone feel special when they were with her. Kathy enjoyed new adventures, being on the go and spending time in nature. She also enjoyed skiing, riding motorcycles, reading, making pies, spending time with friends, and a good glass of wine. She was a follower of Jesus, loved the Lord and attended church at Cedar Park Church in Bothell. Kathy was gifted and artistic and brought beauty to everything she created. She was a hard worker, a great listener, a thoughtful gift-giver and always remembered the special little details about people.
Kathy was preceded by in death by her father, Robert C. Watson: brother, Robert W. Watson and her mother-in-law, Beverly Askew.
She is survived by her husband Mick of 35 years and son Sam; her mother, Betty Watson; sisters, Karen Benoit and Laurie (Glenn) Mitchell; father-in-law Bud Askew (Ann); sister-in law Sandy (Bill) Ekse; brothers-in-law Bob (Kathy) Askew, Budd (Irene) Askew and Ron (Vicki) Askew; nieces and nephews Ericka (Stephen) Thielke (Clara, Anna), Billy Ekse (Tyler, Grace), Natalie (Justin) Aase (Elijah, Jonah, Ben), Nick (Kayla) Askew (June, Reid), Stevie Askew, Ashley (Amanda) Mitchell, Amy Mitchell, Brandon (Mikala) Watson, Kelsey (Jake) Lenting and Erica Mitchell.
The celebration of Kathy’s life is going to be on April 17, 2021, 1:00pm at The Church at Maltby, 9322 Paradise Lake Road, Snohomish, WA . In lieu of flowers, Kathy’s family asks that donations be made to www.save.org
