Kathy Lee Colvin, 65, of Locust Grove, Oklahoma, passed away on Sunday, November 9, 2025, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was born on May 1, 1960, in Dallas, Texas, to Windle Lee Evans and Juanita (Marshall) Evans-Wilson.
Kathy grew up in Coppell, Texas, where she attended local schools. Over the years, she made her home in Redlands, California; Boyd, Texas; McAlester, Oklahoma; and Tulsa, Oklahoma, before settling in Locust Grove in 2023.
On March 24, 2012, Kathy married the love of her life, Kawliga Colvin, in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Together, they shared a life filled with laughter, love, music, and cherished moments spent with family and friends. Kathy enjoyed a long and successful career in the aviation industry. She worked for General Dynamics in the Dallas/Fort Worth area and later with Rockwell International, Spirit, and Boeing in McAlester. She retired from Spirit in Tulsa in 2022, where she had served as a Logistics and Parts Manager.
Kathy was of the Baptist faith and was a devoted Christian woman who loved reading her Bible. Her advice was always rooted in faith, and she taught her children to love the Lord-always reminding them, "Go to bed and say your prayers."
Kathy had a deep love for her grandchildren and enjoyed spending time outdoors with her family and friends. Kathy especially loved going to concerts with her husband-she was an avid fan of REO Speedwagon, having seen them more than a dozen times, as well as George Strait, Carrie Underwood, Bon Jovi, and many others. She also loved jazz and blues music, playing marbles (her favorite game), cards, and dice.
Although she was afraid of heights, Kathy will be remembered for her positivity and kindness. She had a gift for turning negatives into positives, was generous with her time and help, and often described life's blessings as "awesome." Though she wasn't a fighter by nature, she was never afraid-her courage and faith guided her through all of life's challenges.
Kathy is survived by: her husband: Kawliga, of the home; 3 children: Kathy Juanita (Evans) McDaniel and Steve Nave of McAlester, Oklahoma, Stephanie Kay (Kizer) Hance and husband Gene of McAlester, Oklahoma, and Jason Wayne Carter and wife Sarah of Boyd, Texas; 8 grandchildren: Scotty Evans, Tyler Evans, Dakota Hance, Karlee Evans, Dauson Hance, Kyle Hance, Jaxon Carter, Sofie Carter; 8 great grandchildren; 2 sisters: Cindy Lee Smith and Robert Smith of McAlester, Oklahoma, and Mary Lee Evans and Larry Birchfield of Grand Prairie, Texas; Her mother: Juanita Lee Wilson of McAlester, Oklahoma; As well as numerous other relatives, a host of friends and her beloved dog Gizmo.
She was preceded in death by: her father; 1 brother: Terry Lee Evans; maternal grandparents: Virgil and Mary Marshall; paternal grandmother: Bertha Norton.
A funeral celebration of Kathy's life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, November 14, 2025, at the Locust Grove Free Will Baptist Church, with Pastor Jeff Blair officiating.
