With heavy hearts, we share the news that our beloved Kathy Ann Elting Vogel, 77, of Milton, WI, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, in Corolla, NC. This is a monumental loss to our family, and we are heartbroken. Kathy was the cornerstone of our family, and her absence leaves a void that can never be filled.
Born on July 25, 1947, in Hinsdale, IL, Kathy was the daughter of Donald and Katherine (Cummiskey) Elting. She graduated from Marjorie Webster Junior College in 1967, and on February 2, 1968, she met the love of her life, Charles Vogel. They were married on October 3, 1970, at St. Isaac Jogues Church in Hinsdale, IL. Together, Kathy and Charlie spent 54 beautiful years as husband and wife, raising two wonderful children, Michael and Susan, and cherishing every moment as a family. Kathy meant the world to us as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, and friend. She had an incredible ability to bring people together, whether through her warm conversations, her gift for gab, or the countless events and outings she planned with such care and joy. Her love for entertaining, organizing parties, and creating memories with family and friends made every gathering a special one.
As a grandmother, she adored her five grandchildren-Sean, Zachery, Harper, Hayden and Holden-and never missed their sporting events, even following along on her phone when she couldn't be there in person. Kathy was truly the heart of our family, always looking for the silver lining in every situation, and her vibrant spirit touched everyone she met.
Kathy and Charlie also shared countless adventures and loved to travel. They spent their winters with family and friends in Key Colony Beach, Florida. Kathy loved music and dancing and in recent years even convinced Charlie to join her on the dance floor, a testament to their deep love and companionship. Kathy is survived by her devoted husband, Charlie; her children, Michael (Bobbie) Vogel and Susan (Jason Bartolotta); her cherished grandchildren, Sean, Zachery, Harper, Hayden and Holden; her sisters-in-law, Jackie Judd, Sandra (David) Wenham, and Vicki (David) Hines; her brother, John (Kathy) Elting and family and many beloved nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her father and mother-in-law, Ira and Mabel (Kraus) Vogel; and her brother-in-law, Stanley Judd.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2024, from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM, at 11302 N. Vogel Road, Milton, WI, where we invite friends and family to honor Kathy's memory with shared stories, love, and laughter, just as she would have wanted.
