Kathy Reece Holbrook, 68, passed away peacefully Wednesday, January 24, 2024. She was born March 10, 1955 in Forsyth County to the late John Weldon Reece, Jr. and Betty Fulp Reece. Kathy retired from Reynolds American with 39 years of service. She was a faithful member of New Friendship Baptist Church where she was very involved in many aspects of service to the members. She truly had a servant’s heart, always giving and caring for others.
Kathy is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, James Holbrook. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son, John (Cathy) Luffman, sisters, Trish Ernst and Sherry (Barry) Hinshaw; grandson Justin (Savy) Leonard, nieces and nephews, Lyndsey (Steve) Osler, Tyler (Kendall) Hinshaw, Whitney (Adam) Cooke, Brandon (Emma) Hinshaw, Merrick (Tony) Behnke, and Brenne Ernst. Known as “Nana K” to her great nieces and nephews, Rosemary and Drew Osler, Carter and Sonny Cooke and Nina, Kooper, Avie, Reece and Kinsey Hinshaw. Kathy was also known as “Nana K” to numerous others, too many to mention.
Kathy enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, loved her time spent at the beach, her happy place, and traveling to Minnesota.
A celebration of life will be Sunday, January 28, 2024 at New Friendship Baptist Church. Visitation from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., service will follow at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials should be made to New Friendship Baptist Building Fund, 4258 Old Lexington Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27107. The family would like to thank the Novant Health CVSU nurses for their expertise and loving care.
