Kathy James Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Rivertown Funeral Chapel (Ramsay FH Group) on Mar. 16, 2026.
Kathy Ann James, a beacon of love and creativity, passed away on March 13, 2026, at the age of 67. Born on May 30, 1958, in Standish, Michigan, Kathy's life was a tapestry woven with love, kindness, and the joy of simple pleasures.

Kathy was the cherished daughter of Donald (Jim) Rashott and the late Margaret (Vater) Rashott. Her roots in Standish ran deep, and she carried the lessons and love from her hometown throughout her life. A proud graduate of the Standish schools, class of 1976, she carried the spirit of her community with her in every endeavor.

Kathy's professional life was marked by a profound commitment to service. She enjoyed her work at the Chippewa Tribal Center. She spent countless years tending to the needs of the elderly, offering them not just care but companionship and dignity. Her selflessness and dedication to those in her charge were the hallmarks of her career.

Beyond her professional life, Kathy was a woman of many passions. She was a master of crafts, her hands always busy creating something beautiful and meaningful. Her love for cooking and baking was legendary, and her kitchen was a place of warmth and laughter. Shopping was not just a pastime but an adventure for Kathy, as she sought the perfect gifts to express her love and thoughtfulness.

Kathy's generosity knew no bounds. She was the kind of person who remembered birthdays, anniversaries, and important milestones, always marking them with a special touch. Her creative soul found expression in every aspect of her life, from the meals she prepared to the crafts she lovingly made.

Her family was the center of her universe. Kathy is survived by her adoring father, Donald (Jim) Rashott, her long-time partner Leonard, her precious fur child Bella, and her siblings: Donald Rashott, David (Kelly) Rashott, and Karen LaBean. She was a beloved aunt to her nieces and nephews, a doting grandmother to her grandson Xavier, and a respected mother-in-law to Philip. She was preceded in death by her mother Margaret, her grandparents, and her daughter Kristen, whom she missed every day.

Kathy's absence will be felt deeply by all who knew her. The world was a brighter place with her in it, and her memory will continue to inspire those she left behind. Her thoughtful nature, creative spirit, and generous heart have left an indelible mark on the hearts of her loved ones. Kathy Ann James lived a life full of love and beauty, and her legacy will live on in the lives she touched. Her journey on earth has ended, but her story will be told for generations to come, a story of a life well-lived and a woman deeply loved.

Per Kathy's wishes cremation has taken place with a celebration of life planned for a later date.
