Kathy Laskey Obituary
She graduated from Mercyhurst Preparatory School in 1976 and went on to earn her nursing degree from St. Vincent School of Nursing. Kathy devoted her entire career to caring for others, serving faithfully within the Allegheny Health Network until her retirement in 2024.
Kathy adored her six grandchildren, who were the light of her life. She took interest in lighthouses, nutcrackers, nautical décor, Elvis, and the Wizard of Oz. She spent many years involved with Erie Civic Ballet, where she found joy in dancing, teaching, and even participated in the Nutcracker Ballet. Kathy was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church.
In addition to her father, she is survived by her husband, Patrick Laskey, Sr.; her sons, Patrick Laskey, Jr. (Beth) and Matthew Laskey (Alicia), both of Erie; her grandchildren, Milena, Evelyn, Micah, Lucas, Maya, and Maddox Laskey; her brother, Thomas "T.J." Prylinski, Jr. (Sarah); and her nieces and nephews, Ashley, Allison (Bryce), Chase (Allyson), and Sutton (Abrielle). She was preceded in death by her mother, Joan R. Prylinski.
Services and burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Burial will take place at Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home, Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Rd., Erie, PA 16504.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish, 1553 E. Grandview Blvd., Erie, PA 16510.

I am so deeply sorry to hear about Kathy. I worked with her for many years at Saint Vincent and we always worked so well together. She was a wonderful nurse and filled so many different roles in nursing. She was always well respected . My sympathy to your entire family, she always spoke of you and loved you all so much! Dear Pat and family, So many memories to only capture one. We were instant friends in nursing school and that bond carried on throughout our adult lives. We had a way of always picking up where we left off. Her effervescent laugh was contagious and her enthusiasm for Dance and Elvis set her apart. We had many of good times and we were there for each other. For sure her greatest love and pride is her family. You are all so blessed to have her. Best Mom and Grandma ever! Many prayers to you all in this difficult time. Let the good times carry you through. Know she is still present. Be open to the signs. Love and Prayers...

Her infectious laugh could brighten any room, and the joy she felt for her grandchildren was always so evident. Grief can be so hard, but our special memories help us cope.
Kathy worked for me as my Assistant Head Nurse on 8 North SVH. She made every day lighter with her great sense of humor, her nursing knowledge, her caring. Working those days with her by my side were the best days of my nursing career.
