Kathy Masch

Masch, Kathy (nee Verhein) found Eternal Rest on November 4, 2025 at the age of 75. Loving partner and wife of Mary Horne. Cherished mother of Ben, beloved Godmother of Erica (Matt) Lewis. Former wife of Bob Masch. Loving Grandmother of Damarius and Olivia Lewis. Sister of Diane (Kim) Piasecki and special Aunt to Rob Schires (Becky), Kristy Lidwin, Bree Shytle, Nicholas (Angela) Collins and Mya (Alan) Olkowski. Treasured Sister-in-Law of Ann (Rachel) Horne and Kristin (Matt) Collins and Special Dog Mom to Callie and Finnegan. Preceded in death by her parents Russell and Beverly Verhein, her In-Laws Chuck and Donna Horne and siblings Russell Jr. and Patty Ann Lily. Further survived by an amazing inner circle of friends who never left our side. All of your kindnesses will never be forgotten.

Memorial Gathering Saturday, November 22, 2025 from 10AM to 1PM at OUR LADY OF LOURDES CONGREGATION 3722 S. 58th St., Milwaukee. Memorial Prayer Service and Time of Sharing to follow, at 1PM.

Kathy put the "Social" in "Social Worker," and never met a person with whom she couldn't connect. She served over 40 years as a social worker at Penfield Children's Center, Milwaukee Public Schools and Downtown Montessori Academy. This was not just her vocation, it was her heart, soul and passion. Kathy was an avid reader and participated in four book clubs. Her heart belonged to Shawano, spending many happy days there at the Lake with family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wisconsin Humane Society or the Nature Conservancy in Kathy's name. Special thanks to the Froedert staff who attended to Kathy throughout this cancer journey, especially Dr. Janet Retseck for her warm, kind and insightful care, and Nurse Emma in SICU for being there for Kathy and her circle every step of the way in the darkest times. You both are the consummate professionals and the best humans ever.
