Kathy Dean Rupert, age 76, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family as she was united with her husband and daughter in Heaven on Tuesday, October 2, 2025.
Kathy was born December 8, 1948 in Edina Missouri, the daughter of Elmo Dean Ethridge and Peggy Ann Allensworth, Kathy was joined in marriage to Ronald Lee Rupert on August 2, 1974 in Muscatine, Iowa.
Kathy is preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers Jerry Ethridge and Cleveland Ethridge; a sister Mary Strain; a daughter Tracy Brumbaugh; and a grandson Justice Rupert.
Kathy is survived by her sons, Scott Lunsford (Jill), of Shelbyville, MO, Todd Rupert of Hannibal, MO, Paul Rupert (Melisa) of Emden, MO, and David Rupert (Serena), of Shelbyville, MO; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and many foster children; sister Carol Ann Shellhorn of Illinois; and several nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
Kathy was a member of the Lakewood Union Chapel of Hunnewell Missouri, and worked at the salt river nursing home as a medical technician for 18 years. She loved arts and crafts and enjoyed sewing and making baby quilts. She was an avid gardener and loved flowers, and nature, spending a lot of her time taking care of her farm animals. She had a big heart that not only cared for her grandchildren but numerous foster children.
Funeral service will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, October 7, 2025 at Greening Eagan Hayes Funeral Home in Shelbina, Missouri. Visitation will precede the service starting at 9 am. Burial will follow after the service at the Bethel Zion Cemetery, near Bethel Missouri.
Memorials may be made to Bethel Zion Cemetery, Neighbors Helping Neighbors and Bethel Christian Church.
