Kathy Sue Scott passed away surrounded by love, leaving behind a life marked by faith, service, and deep devotion to her family. She was faithful, strong, and carried a heart big enough to hold everyone she loved.
Kathy spent most of her working life as a janitor for local schools, work she took pride in and approached with care and dedication. She found purpose in serving others, creating welcoming spaces, and caring for what was placed in her hands--whether at work, at home, or within her family.
Kathy loved her children deeply, but she truly lived for her grandchildren. She was endlessly proud of them and found joy in every milestone, every story, and every quiet moment spent together.
A woman of deep faith, Kathy loved the Lord with all her heart. Her faith carried her through every season of life and shaped the way she loved—with compassion, forgiveness, and strength. She would want her life to be remembered not for her struggles, but for her love.
Kathy’s legacy lives on in the lives she touched, the family she cherished, and the love she gave so freely.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul McKinney and Renate Fresh; and her grandson, Tyler Aitken.
Kathy is lovingly survived by her children, Conrad Pacheco (Jessica) of Grand Island, Chrissy (Shane) Tilson of Cozad and Shawna (Shannon) Aitken of Elkhorn; grandchildren, Breanna Pacheco, Riley Tilson, Hunter Tilson, Carter Tilson, Isabel Meyer and Amelia Meyer; sister, Margo (Sam) Bowser of WA; brothers, Bill (Jan) McKinney of TX, Richard McKinney of CO, Dan McKinney of CO and Robert McKinney of Cozad; and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 17, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at the Berryman Funeral Home Chapel. Memorials are suggested to Cozad Christian Church.
