Kathy Ann Winsel, 70, passed away at Monument Hospital in
Rapid City, SD on November 19, 2023.
Kathy was born on September 30, 1953 in Stanley ND to George Oliver Wells and Beverly Mae Olson. Kathy spent her childhood and early adulthood living in South Dakota and Texas. During this time Kathy met and married her first husband and had her four children as well as started her long career in customer and retail services.
In 1987 while residing in
Rapid City, SD she met the love of her life, Dean Winsel. On June 2, 1990 they were married at Chapel in the Hills in Rapid City which started their journey of 33 wonderful years together. Kathy and Dean had lots of adventures together during their time and did quite a bit of traveling as well across the United States. She had traveled to all but 6 states in her lifetime.
Kathy was a woman of many talents. She loved spending time baking, crocheting and sewing. She made many things from blankets of all sizes and for all occasions to dolls. Kathy was very creative and made anything she could. She was also known for having a green thumb and loved spending her time outside gardening and landscaping. Although Kathy had many hobbies and passions, what she most enjoyed and loved was spending time with family.
Kathy is preceded in death by her parents, George and Beverly Wells. Her sister, Carleen Damberger, brother William Wells and two grandsons.
Kathy leaves behind her husband of 33 years, Dean Winsel; four children: daughter, Penelope (Ron) Johnson of NY, son, Marshall (Holly) Myers of ND, son, Dory Myers of SD, son, Christopher Myers of ND, and stepson, David Winsel of VA. She is also survived by six of her siblings: Fred (Margaret) Klubben of WA, Theodore Wells of AR, Deanna Schnaidt of NM, Kari (Kendall) Kjerstad of CO, David Wells of TN, and Julie Wells of TN, along with numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
