Katie Birchem Obituary
Katie Birchem was born on January 19th, 1998 in Coon Rapids MN, the daughter of Shawn Birchem and Scott Birchem. She grew up in Colman, SD and attended school at Colman Egan, graduating from Lincoln High School in 2016 in Sioux Falls SD. She Continued her education at NDSU in Fargo, ND where she aspired to graduate with a BA in education. Katie held many jobs while being a fulltime student.
Katie was the baby of six children. In life she was looking forward to graduating college and becoming a junior high history teacher. She also planned to travel abroad, before starting her own family. Katie was an avid gamer, spending countless hours in her online communities. She was a firm believer in internet privacy and shining a light on the trolls who hide in the dark corners of the web.
She is survived by her parents; siblings in order of birth, Aaron (Brittany) Litwin- SD, Lisa Birchem- SD, Colleen and Cheri Birchem- MN, Jr (Heather) Birchem SD; grandparents, Diane and Merle Buchan- MN and Joyce and Allen Birchem- MN; special friends, Ryan and Elizabeth Schlicht- SD as well as many aunts and uncles.
