Katrina M. Waller, also known as ‘Beanie-bop’ and ‘Bean,’ age 45, of Worcester, passed away on Friday, May 30, 2025, at Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester surrounded by loving family members.

Katrina is survived by two sons, Katrel Waller and Jalen Waller, both of Worcester; two sisters, Carmelita Waller-Snyder of Grand Rapids, MI, and Natasha Waller of Worcester; her brother Douglas Safford of Worcester; her cousin Tyrone Harrington who was more like a brother to her; and two stepsisters Jennifer Safford, and Andrea Safford, all of Worcester; three grandchildren, Kamron Waller, Kataleya Waller, and Nessiah Waller; her Aunt Kathy Watters of Worcester with whom she lived for a period of time and her Uncle John Harrington, Jr. of Wilmington, NC, whose roles were immeasurable after the passing of her mom; her step-father, Douglas Safford of North Carolina; her grandmother, Barbara Waller of Worcester; her Godmother, Debora Waller of Chicago; her close friend, Angela Walsh of Worcester; several Aunts and Uncles, many nieces and nephews and a large array of extended family members. Katrina was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Glen Waller and Linda (Harrington) Waller.

The Katrina phenomenon was real. Her allure had no boundaries. Warm, compassionate, obstinate and relentless in the pursuit of love, she possessed a zeal for life. She was feisty; she was fearless; she was unapologetically ‘Bean.’ She was a selfless, loving mother and an amazing grandmother who spent her life nurturing her family. Katrina enjoyed crafting, debating everything with everyone and binge watching “Grey’s Anatomy.”

With the steady acquisition of knowledge, her forte, Katrina’s mind worked nonstop. Oftentimes she surprised us with random expertise on topics ranging from auto mechanics to the latest technological advancements in medical surgical procedures - random yet precise.

Katrina reveled in design, was well known and appreciated for her impeccable sense of fashion, and at one time actively pursued a modeling career. To the benefit of all, Motherhood prevailed.

As a teenager, she was devastated when her mom passed and she vowed to always be there for her boys. At the age of 29, she was diagnosed with Type I Diabetes, an incurable disease which would ravage her body. Katrina's health struggles were many. Still she persevered.

To any event, she brought the party. As such she became the entertainment, a job she took seriously. All eyes were always on her. She was funny and lived in the spotlight. For instance, when a song came on, she loved, she’d sing with all her might. Unfortunately, she was tone deaf and didn’t always know all the lyrics. That’s what made her our ‘Bean.’

Katrina was once in a lifetime.

Calling Hours will be on Sunday, June 8, from 3 pm until 6 pm at the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. Her Funeral will be on Monday, June 9, at 11 am in the funeral home. Interment will follow at Saint John’s Cemetery, Worcester.
