Kawania Leigh Bannister

Kawania Leigh Bannister, age 35, of Bedford, VA, passed away on Sunday, November 23, 2025. She was born on November 3, 1990, at Bedford Memorial Hospital. Kawania is preceded in death by her infant son, Jordan D. Bannister, and her father, Theadore D. Bannister.

A proud graduate of Liberty High School, Kawania embraced her strong work ethic and compassionate spirit as she ventured into her life's mission. With unwavering determination and heartfelt commitment, she tirelessly pursued her CNA certification, a dream reflecting her deep desire to care for others. Her dedication to support those in need was not just a professional calling but a personal one, as she approached every patient with the same warmth, kindness, and respect she would show her own family. Kawania's genuine empathy and nurturing nature touched the lives of all around her, leaving a lasting impact on the community she served.

Kawania was cherished immensely by her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched with her radiant smile and generous spirit. Though her time with us was far too short, the love, strength, and compassion she embodied have created an enduring legacy. Her memory will forever echo in the hearts of everyone who loved her, reminding us of the light she brought into our lives.

Kawania is survived by her beloved mother, Linda Bannister, and her beautiful daughters, Jada Jones, Janiya Jones, and Journey Bannister, all of Bedford, VA. She is also survived by her brother, James (MaryAnn) Bannister, and her sisters, Stephanie (Douglas) Williams of Evington, VA, Tonya (Chaunce) Jones, and Yolanda (Gerry) Staples, all of Bedford, VA. Kawania held her six precious nieces and five nephews close to her heart, and they will forever honor her memory. Additionally, she is survived by her birth mother, Lolita Hayden, whom she loved deeply, along with three sisters and two brothers. She is also remembered by a host of great-nieces and great-nephews, godchildren, and many other relatives and friends.

Kawania's spirit will continue to inspire us, and her memory will forever echo in the hearts of everyone who loved her, reminding us of the light she brought into our lives.
