Kay Frances Goody, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully at Kings Daughters Medical Center on March 10, 2025, at the age of 84. Born on June 2, 1940, in
Ashland, Kentucky, Kay's life was a testament to her strength, compassion, and unwavering love for her family.
Kay was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Goody, her cherished parents, Harry and Susie Miles Daniels, her sister Patricia Pendleton. She is survived by her loving children, Susan Madden and husband David of Lloyd, KY, Pam Davis and husband Paul of
Ashland, KY, and son Gary Owens Jr. and wife Melissa of Lebanon, Ohio. Kay's legacy continues through her adoring siblings, Carolyn Ellenberg and husband Harold of
Ashland, KY, and brother Danny Daniels and wife Becky of Alamo, Tennessee.
The light of her life shone brightly in her grandchildren whom adoringly referred to her as "Mim", Jennifer Smith and husband Keith, Kyle Madden and wife Candace, Kayla Williams and husband Graydan, Jamie Helton and her significant other Jacob, and Tanner Owens and fiancée Brooke. Her great-grandchildren, Dylan, Evan, Owen, Triniti, Kylyn, Jackson, Blaine, and Delaney, brought her immeasurable joy and laughter. Kay also leaves behind her special friend, Lynn Mattingly, who was a source of comfort and companionship through the years as well as her fury companion Molly.
Kay's journey in life was marked by her dedication to others, a trait that was evident in her professional career as a licensed practical nurse. After graduating from nursing school, she devoted many years to caring for new mothers and their babies in the labor and delivery unit at Kings Daughters Medical Center. Her nurturing spirit and skilled hands helped bring countless lives into the world, and her patients often remembered her for her kindness and reassuring presence during one of the most significant moments of their lives.
Outside of her professional life, Kay attended Crossroad Baptist Church, her faith was a cornerstone of her existence and provided her with strength and guidance throughout her life.
Kay's passion for quilting was more than just a hobby; it was an art form that allowed her to express her creativity and love for beauty. Her intricate quilts were not only cherished by her family but also admired by all who had the pleasure of seeing them. Her hands were rarely still, as she was always at work on a new quilt or project, often gifting them to loved ones and friends.
Funeral Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 14, 2025, at STEEN FUNERAL HOME 13TH STREET CHAPEL beginning with the Nurse Honor Guard of the River Cities and followed with words of comfort by her brother Danny Daniels and Pastor Daniel Irvin. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until service time at 1:00.
