Kay Hurd Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by The Cremation Society of Iowa - Des Moines on Dec. 7, 2022.
The Lord called Kay Elaine (Hartman) Hurd, of Urbandale, IA home to Heaven on December 4, 2022, after several years of dementia related challenges.
Kay was born in Sioux Valley, MN to Fred and Violet (Maltzen) Hartman on January 17, 1935.
Kay had an amazingly quick-witted sense of humor! Kay fearlessly shared unconditional love with all she met and delighted in meaningful conversation with everyone. It's been said, "Kay could spend five minutes with someone, learn all about them, and care about them forever. Socialization was her enjoyment!
Kay is preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Violet Hartman; sister and brother-in-law, Marlene, and Dave Chambers; brother, Warren "Bud" Hartman; grandson, Jake Hurd; and niece, Sunny Hartman.
Kay is survived by her husband, Larry L. Hurd; daughters, Lenora Grylls, Patti Ashbaugh, and Nanci (Tom) Sauer; three stepsons of Omaha; brother, Fred A. (Sherri) Hartman; multiple grandchildren, great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and other family members and dear friends.
A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, December 10, at 11:00 AM at New Hope Assembly of God Church, located at 4425 70th St in Urbandale, IA.
Kay's family will forever be grateful to Mercy Hospice of Johnston for their most wonderful care in her last days.
She will be sorely missed by all who knew her, but we can take comfort in knowing that she is with Jesus in Heaven.
Contributions may be made to New Hope Assembly of God Church or Mercy Hospice of Johnston, IA.
If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved. As the Scriptures tell us, "Anyone who trusts in him will never be disgraced." For "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."
Romans 10:9-11, 13 NLT
