Kay Sanford passed away peacefully in Bellingham at PeaceHealth Whatcom Hospice House on October 31, 2025.

Kay was born on July 1, 1939, in Bellingham to Joseph Edmund Ridley and Katherine Faith Holeman. She is proceeded in death by her parents, her loving husband of 57 years Wayne, son Michael and brother Paul.

Mom will be remembered for her thoughtfulness and kindness. She had many dear friends and could always be counted on to remember birthdays, anniversaries, special moments, and favorite foods. She was always ready with your favorite pie, casserole or her famous mashed potatoes! Making a positive difference was important to Mom.

Most of all, Mom loved her family. The grandkids and great grandkids brought her much joy. She remained involved in their interests and activities throughout the years.

Mom retired after working several years for Sumas Border Brokerage. She took pride in her career, including her time as a bank teller.

Kay is survived by her daughters, Lorraine and Jayme. Grandchildren, Derrik (Maria), Jeffrey (Chelsey), Aleks (Kate), Riley and Zoe. Great grandsons, Lucas and Ross. Sisters, Rosemary Handerson and Marlys Henderson. Sisters-in-law Lynnette McGinnis (Jack) and Karen Ridley. Brothers-in-law Morris Sanford, Barry Sanford (Donna) and Terry Sanford. Daughters-in-law Nancy Sanford and Laurel Vanden Berg. Numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and lifelong friends Deanna and Mary Ann from middle school.

At Kay's request there will be no service.

Memorial contributions may be made to PeaceHealth Whatcom Hospice House (2806 Douglas Ave, Bellingham, 98225) or Sumas Advent Christian Church (125 Front St, Sumas, 98295).
