Kaylee Jo Walstad (Frangos) November 16, 1962 - August 19, 2025 With hearts broken but full of gratitude for her life, we remember Kaylee Jo Walstad (Frangos), who passed away suddenly and unexpectedly. Born in Minneapolis, to Douglas Andrew Frangos and Kay Joan Maunumaki, Kaylee lived a life marked by love, generosity, and unflagging devotion to others. She graduated from Hopkins Eisenhower High School, attended the Universities of Wisconsin and Minnesota and remained deeply rooted in the Hopkins, Minnesota community throughout her life. Kaylee is survived by her beloved daughter Ashlee Kay Walstad and Ashlee's wife, Kaitlynn (Kate) Walstad (Coons); her cherished son Alexander Michael Walstad, soon to be married to Madison (Maddie) Lewandowski; her dearest sister Kari Lynn Frangos; her adored cat Bean; and extended family, countless friends, and a vast professional community who loved her dearly. She was predeceased by her heavenly sister, Susan Andrea Martinez (Frangos). To her family, Kaylee was a fountain of affection and encouragement, always celebrating their joys as her greatest triumphs. To her friends and colleagues, she was a tireless champion-wise, warm, and unfailingly kind. She was simultaneously the "mom", heart and strategist of the e-discovery community, always showing up to listen, advise, and to lift spirits. With Mary Mack, Kaylee co-owned and stewarded the Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM), through which she sparked a vibrant global community of colleagues and friends. Week after week, year after year, she poured her energy into fostering connection, encouragement, and support, leaving a legacy of professional generosity that will continue to shape the field. Kaylee lived by mottos that she also gave as gifts to others: "Sisu!" "There is no traffic on the extra mile!" "Love you to the moon." "It's a sunflower day!" "Have one goal." "Win of the day?" "You are not guaranteed tomorrow, so make the most of today." "Healing begins when you start to help others." Her causes reflected her boundless generosity: the Buy Nothing group of Hopkins, the Innocence Project, Hopkins Food Shelf, Dress for Success, and-most of all-any person in need she happened to meet. A devoted mother, sister, and friend, Kaylee's light touched every life she encountered. She leaves behind a family and a community immeasurably better for her presence. A virtual memorial for Kaylee's professional network will be convened after Labor Day. Friends and family are welcome. For information and Zoom link, please contact

EDRM is hosting a living tribute web page to Kaylee here: https://edrm.net/in-loving-memory-of-kaylee-walstad/. #AllAreWelcome In Kaylee's spirit, we invite all who loved her to honor her not just with words, but with kindness in action. Plant a sunflower. Help a neighbor. Tell someone you, "Love you to the moon."
