Mr. Kedar H. Darden, 24, transitioned on Sunday, September 21, 2025.
Kedar Haneef Darden was born June 8, 2001, at Nash General Hospital in Rocky Mount, NC to Kenya Gray and Kevin Darden. Kedar transitioned into eternal rest on Sunday, September 21, 2025.
He was reunited with his grandmother, Sheila "YaYa" Grinnage and John "PaPa" Wilson.
Kedar attended Nash Rocky Mount and Edgecombe County public schools. He graduated from Southwest Edgecombe High School, where he was a star player of both the football and wrestling teams. Kedar was very lovable and respectful. He had a goofy laugh and was a little corny at times, but simply a joy to be around! He enjoyed spending time with all his family, and bringing people together was his main goal! He just wanted to show love! He worked out faithfully, our strong man. Kedar's smile would light up a room! He truly had a joyous spirit and knew and loved the Lord.
Kedar left behind many loved ones who will miss him dearly. His mother, Kenya Gray, his father, Kevin Darden; and his 2nd mom, Tarsha Darden. His grandparents James Darden and Melinda Hagans. Siblings - Kwame James, Cheyenne James, Jair Mounsey, Attallah Gray, his twin sister Kiyah Darden, Montee Moore, Brandon Powell, Kevin Darden Jr., Brandon Jones, Alecia Darden, Harper Darden, and Romeo Heath. One uncle, Jason Gray, and two aunts, Latisha Pittman and Tina Darden-Harris, as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
A Visitation for Mr. Darden will be held from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm on Friday, October 3, 2025, at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 730 Sutton Road, Rocky Mount, North Carolina. Funeral services will follow the visitation beginning at 1:00 pm. Interment will be private.
These professional services have been entrusted to H.D. Pope Funeral Home, located at 325 Nash Street in Rocky Mount, NC.

Kedar was one of my favorite students I ever taught. He was positive, cooperative, respectful and had such great enthusiasm towards learning. He was the student one always wanted to take home with you as a loving son.

Kedar was family to us. He stayed at our home many nights, went on vacations with us and family events. My son Hunter and him were best of friends, like brothers since high school. They were always riding the four wheelers, horses, swimming in the pool or just hanging out. I'm so thankful we witnessed him being saved at our church, Rise in Rocky Mount a couple of years ago, we know he's with Jesus. We will miss him so very much. He was one of the finest young men I've ever met. Condolences to all his loved ones. We mourn with you.
