Richard Keith Babbs, 51, of Dunstable, MA, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on January 15th, 2026 in Boston MA. Born in Arkansas, Keith attended college at University of Central Arkansas (UCA) in Conway, dual majoring in art and education. Upon graduation he worked as a teacher, and then as a cop before he returned to UCA where he completed an MS in Biology. He then attended Pennsylvania State University in State College, PA, and obtained a PhD in Physiology. Keith spent the majority of his career as a scientist, focused on research related to rare genetic disorders, neuroscience, ingestive behaviors, and cardiovascular disease.
Keith spent his life trying to make the world a more beautiful place through art, and a better place through his work. He was an avid outdoorsman and an excellent home chef, always willing to teach others or lend a helping hand. He had a seemingly endless supply of Dad jokes, and made those around him feel seen, heard, and included.
He is survived by his wife Amanda Babbs; his daughter Alyssa Babbs and grandson Keenan Basey-Scott; his son Ryan Babbs and daughter-in-law Haylee Babbs. He also leaves two siblings: Kristen Davis and Aaron Stapleton. He was predeceased by his mother Paulette.
