Keith Morris Byergo, 94, of
Warrenton, VA, passed away on November 22, 2023. He was born on September 24, 1929, in
Barnard, Missouri. Keith was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, as well as a loyal friend to many. He was full of both wisdom and joy.
Keith was an accomplished agronomist with a deep connection to the land and the people who tend it. He owned and managed his own farm from 1963 until his passing in 2023. He also worked as an agronomist for the United States Agency for International Development from 1961 to 1980. While working for USAID, he was honored for his leadership, concern for the rural poor, and his commitment to the small farmers of the world.
In addition to his successful career, Keith proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1951 to 1954. His dedication to his country and his military associations were an important part of his life.
Keith was adventurous, curious and always optimistic. He loved dancing and music, especially swing. He loved traveling and connected with people from all walks of life. An avid horseman, he enjoyed hunting and endurance racing. He found joy in a breezy day of sailing. Happy memories of his adventures filled his last days.
Keith was a faithful member of Grace Episcopal Church in
The Plains, Virginia, where he worshipped. His strong faith was an integral part of his life.
Keith is survived by his three daughters and their families: Elaine M. Byergo and her husband John Burghardt, their children Nora Burghardt and Keith Burghardt; M. Barbara White and her husband David White, their children Megan White and Christopher White; Laura G. Byergo and her husband Mark Willis. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 73 years, Mary Margaret Felton Byergo, who passed away on October 9, 2020.
