Keith Cox, 93, of Lapel, passed away on Monday, September 16, 2024 at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Anderson following an extended illness. 

He was born on November 18, 1930, in Saratoga, Indiana to Ralph Eugene and Mildred Y. (Furrow) Cox. 

He was a 1948 graduate of Ridgeville High School. He served his country proudly in the United States Navy as a hospitalman. He was the superintendent of stone quarry operations for Delphi Stone and US Aggregates.

Keith was an avid fisherman. He enjoyed riding motorcycles on long trips to Canada and all over the United States. He also enjoyed riding horses. He loved spending time at the lake cottage at Beaver Dam Lake and winters in Florida fishing on the St. John's River and Lake George.

Keith is survived by five children, Robert (wife, Jayne) Cox of Swayzee, Teresa Cox of Edgewood, Vicky (husband, Jeff) Purdue of Pendleton, Pam (husband, Brett) Adwell of Kokomo and Mike Cox (Janae Ledbetter) of Pendleton; twelve grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice P. (Simpson) Cox on December 25, 2023; his parents; a sister, Melba J. May on March 28, 2020; and a grandson, Nathan Thomas Purdue on January 10, 2019. 

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 20, 2024, at Bozell Funeral Home, Lapel Chapel, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel, Indiana 46051 with Pastor Aaron Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at Brookside Cemetery in Lapel. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Lapel American Legion Post #212.

Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, September 19, 2024, at the funeral home. 

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 50 East 91st Street, Suite 100, Indianapolis, Indiana 46209-4830.
